5 Thing I'm Loving About Living in Chicago

It's almost been two months of my new post-grad life in the city of Chicago, and I am loving every second of it! I brought together 5 things I am loving about city life (and 5 things I am still getting used to).

5 things I am loving:

  1. My neighborhood

    • My DREAM! I absolutely am in love with the simplicity and homey-ness of Lincoln Park... enough said.

  2. The walkability of Chicago

    • The area we live in is close to so many good things (Trader Joes, Target, Whole Foods, Amazon).

  3. There is always something new to do

    • Free events in the park, the farmers market every Wednesday/Saturday only a couple blocks south and food events to name a few!

  4. We are close to the zoo

    • The Lincoln Park Zoo is free! It's amazing to walk around the zoo on a Sunday evening. Going outside forces us to explore our neighborhood and catch a breath of fresh air.

  5. Our cute little apartment

    • I cannot wait to share some more pictures of our apartment. Our bedroom is one of my favorite spots so far, we are just starting to decorate it!

5 things I am still getting used to:

  1. CTA (the bus and train systems)

    • I am horrible with directions. Send help! I know my 2 bus routes and that is about it. I am not going to lie, the L freaks me out and I don't plan on taking it any time soon! It's going to be hard when I have to take the L up to Northwestern... can someone let me Lyft for free?

  2. Work-life-workout balance

    • I am super health conscious (for the most part) and working out helps me decompress. I am still trying to figure out a healthy work-life-workout balance. I tend to veg out as soon as I get home (especially when Mitch is out of town for work), which is not a good habit; I'm definitely getting better though!

  3. The expense of the city

    • Chicago is expensive and although we are pretty good ad budgeting, purchasing some things are tempting! I need to watch my random food purchases to help us save some $ along with shed some extra pounds.

  4. Patience

    • I am the most impatient person in the world, but only when it comes to personal growth! I need to be realistic with myself and let my career slowly develop, but that's for another blog post.

  5. Time

    • I tend to push my time to the absolulte last minute, even limiting the amount of sleep I get in order to finish everything up. This goes hand-in-hand with my work-life-workout balance... it's a work in progress.
